Featured Plant

One of my favorite Spring plants is the HOSTA. I love to watch the leaves emerge from the ground in tight, upright rolls, only to slowly unfurl into grand petticoates of layered leaves. Their many forms and colors can be both subtle and bold. Some, in fact, sell for hundreds of dollars! But my favorites are still the older varieties like Hosta fortunei albomarginata, with its crisp white edges, or Hosta sieboldiana, with large seersuckered blue-gray leaves. In the Fall another show begins, when the leaves turn into shades of yellow and gold before withering away for the Winter.
