IMAGES
of ICE STORM '98
Although devastating, an ice storm can bring a special type of beauty
with it...These are scenes captured on the morning after we were hit by
both freezing rain and a light layer of snow. Our property faces South-SouthEast
at the 1000 foot level, about 22 miles SW of Portland, Oregon.
Our Rottweilers exploring the driveway.... and Miscanthus, Spiraea
and Agapanthus as ice sculpture.
The grape pergola dressed in icicles....Eastern White Pine, Fir and
Sequoia encased in ice
White Birch and Katsura wearing lacey dress....a bluebird house turned
jailhouse! The vineyard fades into the mist and the ghost of an ancient
Douglas Fir looms in the distance.
The rose garden pergolas are fringed with ice and lingering rose leaves
have icy tails
